The other misunderstanding is that just because you have a Indian on the line, it may not necessarily mean that it is an Indian who is cheating you. Some of the nationalities of people who are Directors of scam businesses using Indian call centres (both in Australia and in India) for fraud include Italian (or to be more specific, Calabrian) and Greek .However, even here, you find that the main player in this business is Anglo-Indian. I do think though that the fact that Indian call centres are competitive make it more likely that eventually, the business owners will be Indians, because they are better placed to manage the telemarketing side. The other misunderstanding is that just because you have a Indian on the line, it may not necessarily mean that it is an Indian who is cheating you. Some of the nationalities of people who are Directors of scam businesses using Indian call centres (both in Australia and in India) for fraud include Italian.... The discussion was about the callers themselves being Indian, nobody questioned the nationality of the company directors, did they?We are talking about the people on the end of the phone line making the calls. Considering their whole country is segregated into a Caste system based on the colour of their skin! "Only" 17.31% of the world's population may be Indian, God bless 'em – but where are the majority of call centres and service desks based?
yeah i got a call from an indian who spoke poor english saying they were calling from telstra and that our internet was being disconnected due to hackers attacking us. ' needless to say they hung up and haven't had them call back since. considering when I got one of these scams and dragged it on for half an hour and their response was after wasting their time for that long – "if you ever come to india I will kill you " :) or what would that be to you?
Secondly, there's an availability of call centres and low wage rates in India, with probably only the Philippines able to compete in this way.
Indians are just too competitive in voice services.
In my opinion this is being a straight out racist, because you don't actually know, but still prepared to make not only a judgement, but a statement of fact without any truthful facts. I find it far more ironic that Indians complain about racism and then are one of the main sources of this sort of scam, along with other deliberate annoyances like telemarketing. One only has to read this thread to see how people label scammers as (all) being Indian without any real proof. I suppose if they said the caller was male going by the sound of their voice you would accuse them of being sexist. The country with the largest population in the world is virtually unrepresented in phone scammers.
Got a call recently too and I just told him straight up he was a scammer to which he replied "Sir, if you continue to call us a scammer, I will have to call your local police department about this matter"... Just imagine if everyone labelled you as being a scammer without any real proof. There are plenty of scammers out there and they are present in every nation, so why pick on Indians. I've got an answerphone with a robot voice recording, reading a script that tells them to turn their CID on then ring back, that all calls without a CID are forwarded to. After going through a few things with them fictionally, this nice lady asked me what I see on my desktop. I coudn't find any statistics on telemarketing fraud, but by way of analogy, that country does appear, well down, in the top 25 countries in e-commerce fraud.
